Dual Language/Immersion (DL/I) Administration Certificate

East Carolina University is offering the first Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Administration Certificate to be offered in NC. http://www.ecu.edu/cs-educ/leed/dli.cfm Marjorie Ringler, professor in the College of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership, designed this certificate program in collaboration with practicing DLI leaders in the state to meet the needs of the state's over 140 DL/I programs. In addition, the program is designed to help school administrators learn about DL/I programs and encourage them to offer such programs.

The 12 credit hour (4 courses) certificate in Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Administration provides professional development for individuals that are implementing, maintaining, and assessing DLI programs in schools and districts. Candidates who successfully complete the certificate will have a broad-based knowledge of how to educate an increasingly linguistically diverse student population.

The first of the 4 courses, Introduction to Leading DLI Programs, kicked off this month with 8 students under instructor Emily Bivens, principal at Frank Porter Graham, Chapel Hill/Carrboro City Schools. The certificate courses are completed in one academic year and the program is offered completely online.

The second cohort will begin Fall 2018. Application are open now by following this link: https://www.ecu.edu/cs-educ/leed/dli.cfm
